Empowering Lives with Our Development Programs

Learn about the development programs of Friends of Fondacioni Firdeus Inc. We strive to provide children and families access to medical care and housing.

Brave Little Warriors

The Brave Little Warriors program is a vital initiative that aims to ensure that children in need have access to the medical care they deserve. The program is designed to assist children suffering from serious or chronic diseases whose families, due to economic difficulties, are unable to cover the costs of health treatments. This can include everything from diagnostic procedures and laboratory tests to surgeries, medications, and post-operative care.

The foundation works closely with Fondacioni Firdeus, medical professionals, and healthcare providers to identify and assess the needs of patients who are in need of financial assistance. Once a patient has been identified and their case has been evaluated, the foundation provides financial aid to cover the costs of their medical treatment.

In some cases, patients may require specialized care that is not available in their home country. In such instances, the foundation will work to arrange for patients to receive treatment at hospitals in Europe. This may involve coordinating travel and accommodation for patients and their families, as well as arranging for medical consultations and treatments.

Overall, the goal of our Brave Little Warriors program is to ensure that children have access to the medical care they need, regardless of their financial situation, and to provide them with the best possible chance for recovery and a better quality of life.

Homes for Hope

Homes for Hope is a program dedicated to providing safe and affordable housing for very poor families who are in dire need of assistance to ensure that these families have a secure and stable place to live. We also focus on helping families affected by natural disasters, like earthquakes, by assisting them in rebuilding and creating a better future for themselves and their communities.

We understand that access to safe and affordable housing is a fundamental human need, and we believe that every family deserves a home they can call their own. Our program aims to provide this by working closely with local communities, the government, and other non-profit organizations.

We work with local contractors and volunteers to construct new homes for families who have lost everything and provide assistance to families whose homes have been damaged but can still be repaired. We work with local communities to provide training and support services to help families get back on their feet and become self-sufficient. We believe that by working together, we can make a real difference in the lives of very poor families and help them build a brighter future for themselves and their communities.

The response to the November 2019 earthquake in Albania has been one of the biggest projects undertaken by the “Homes for Hope” program to date. The early morning of November 26, 2019 will forever be etched in the minds of Albanians as one of the darkest days in their country’s history. The devastating earthquake, with a magnitude of 6.4 on the Richter scale, was widespread and affected a large number of families who lost their homes and possessions. Families were torn apart as 51 victims were buried under the rubble, including 23 in the small town of Thumana. Over 1,000 people were left injured and hundreds of homes were reduced to rubble. The pain of that morning was palpable, but in the face of such tragedy, the resilience of the Albanian people shone through.

In the aftermath of the earthquake, we took immediate action to help those affected. We knew that we had to do something to ease the suffering of our people. We became an important partner of the Albanian government in the reconstruction process, providing concrete emergency initiatives to help those in need. It was a massive undertaking that required a lot of resources, personnel, and coordination. However, the program was able to make a real difference in the lives of many affected families and helped them build a brighter future for themselves and their communities. So far, we have accomplished the task of delivering 155 fully built and furnished individual houses to families affected by the earthquake in the region of Thumana. We are currently in the process of constructing 30 residential houses in Peza and 16 in Lushnje, as part of our ongoing efforts to provide aid and support to those affected by the disaster.

We couldn’t have done this without the support of Albanians around the world. Their generosity and willingness to help in any way possible was truly heartwarming and gave us hope and strength to continue working for our people. We will never forget the victims of the November 26 earthquake, but with the help of our community, we will rebuild and move forward together.

Nourishing Lives

Nourishing Lives is a program dedicated to providing food and clothing assistance to low-income individuals and families who are struggling to meet their basic needs. Our program aims to alleviate hunger and poverty by providing nutritious meals and clothing to those in need.

We understand that access to adequate food and clothing is a fundamental human need, and we believe that every person deserves to have their basic needs met. As part of this program, we launched the Soup Kitchen initiative a few years ago to provide daily meals to 60 poor and needy individuals. The program began as a small-scale effort, but due to its success, it has been expanded.

Today, in collaboration with local organizations, we distribute over 1000 hot meals daily to various social centers and families in need. In addition to hot meals, the foundation also distributes hundreds of food packages containing non-perishable items to families and individuals who are struggling to afford groceries.

Education for All

Education is a vital aspect of our mission, as we firmly believe that providing education to children is the key to breaking the cycle of poverty and creating opportunities for a safer and brighter future.

We understand that education is not only important for personal development but also for the development of society as a whole. Unfortunately, today, many children are forced to drop out of school and work to provide for the basic needs of their families. This is a major issue that we aim to address through our educational program.

The program is designed to help children from low-income families stay in school and receive a quality education.
